Community Ministries

Sunday worship is important for spiritual growth and connecting with our other church members, but we know it is just as important to serve our bigger community. Some of the best ways we do that is by providing meals, finical support, and more for various groups, as well as the surrounding community. Scroll down this page to see the various groups and ways we give back to our community.

BACM

BACM or Barberton Area Community Ministries is a local food pantry that works towards creating programs targeting food insecurity and basic needs, while also providing outreach for support groups. Here at Barberton Community of Christ we like to show our support with food donations, volunteers, and financial support.

Common Threads

Common Threads is a great group that provides children, caregivers, and educators, with the resources, and training needed to achieve healthy cooking and nutrition education within their daily lives and their community. Our support is shown in various ways including volunteers, financial support, Saturday lunches, and bag lunches.

Loads of Love

Loads of Love is another way of giving back to the community by providing free washes and dries for the homeless and low income community members in need. This service is provided at the local Barberton laundry mat, Laundry Time, and directions can be found in their site by clicking their name.

Gold Star Tree

Our Gold Star Tree is a way for us to visual the donations we collect for Outreach International, a group strongly dedicated to helping end poverty in multiple countries across the world, which includes Haiti where our donations are provided to. When receiving donations, every $100 we collect we add a gold star to our tree.

Supporting the Schools

A big way we like to support our community here in Barberton is by also supporting our local schools. We collect items for the schools at teachers requests to provide for their students, such as school supplies, tissues, deodorant, and more. Please ask for more information if interested in donating.

Another way we try to support the schools is by hosting the local girl scouts!

Swiss Steak Dinner

You may see our Swiss Steak Dinner mentioned a few times, and while it is fun gathering we hold, we also use this time to collect donations for another cause we support. Dinner starts at 6pm on the fifth Wednesday of the according month and we collect a free will offering to support Vision Ministry and community crisis needs.
